Fall Pumpkin Hand Wood-Burned Artwork on Aspen Wood Slice
My favorite small works to create in the fall- pumpkins! This hand wood-burned ornament is 4.5x4" on a beautiful aspen wood slice I sourced from a small business in the Northeast. The tonal quality of the aspen slices creates a vintage quality to what's burned on them. I have always been inspired by more of a vintage style and botanical drawings. These fall pumpkins are the ONLY piece I ever add a little bit of watercolor to so they hold a special place in my heart. The ornament is first sealed with a UV-resistant varnish to protect the piece from fading in the sunlight and is then sealed with Danish Oil that brings out the beautiful tones in the wood. I keep the image of the piece as natural-looking as possible and use a Jute tie to hang the ornament.
Care instructions: wipe clean with a microfiber cloth if dust ever gathers. Avoid hanging in direct sunlight to avoid fading over time.
