Large Wood-Burned Pet Portrait

$800.00

A unique and meticulous style of portraiture created by burning the wood by hand. It is a natural process of creating that includes no additional materials - every aspect of the portrait is created by wood-burning. These detailed pet portraits include every strand of fur intricately burned which creates beautiful warm tones, textures, and a rustic essence. All pet portraits are created on live-edge basswood round slices. The round wood slices have subtle tree rings that beautifully accentuate the pet portraits and add another element of natural texture. The large pet portrait slices are around 11x14” but vary slightly in that range. All visual references can be emailed to brekortartwork@gmail.com.

Payment Options: Payment in full is accepted via my website. If you would prefer to pay a deposit (half payment) you can email me at brekortartwork@gmail.com and I can send you an invoice. The other half of the payment would be due upon completion. For all my portraits, half of the portrait payment acts as a refundable deposit. The other half of the payment is non-refundable.

Timeline: I finish all pet portraits in the order in which I receive them. The general wait time is 4-6 weeks! If needed sooner, please email me to confirm I am available to do so.

Reference Image Guidelines: Reference photos provided for the pet portrait should have good/natural lighting and be at eye level looking straight onto the pet or if you would rather them look off to the side. The camera should be zoomed in on the pet and the picture should not be taken from far away. Avoid using flash while taking photos as it can “white out” or create a red eye effect which is difficult to work from. Keep in mind whichever position/expression the pet’s face is in, it will be what is directly recreated. If you are unsure on which photo would work best, please feel free to send me your favorite photos and we can work together to choose the best option!

Finished Portrait: After your portrait is completed I will send you a photo to confirm you’re happy with everything prior to shipping. I send the photo before the wood-burning is varnished so if any changes need to be made, I can still do so. After the varnish is applied it tints the wood and adds a slightly deeper tone to the shadows in the portrait. If there are a couple small knots/marks in the wood, they will darken after being varnished. I carefully hand-pick every wood slice I use and do not allow any of those natural markings to interfere with the portrait. Each portrait comes with a D-Ring installed in the back to hang. I can make 3 changes to the finished piece to ensure you’re satisfied, but I cannot redo the entire portrait.

Certificate of Authenticity: As of 9/8/2024 all wood-burned pet portraits come with a certificate of authenticity to show each wood-burned pet portrait is hand wood-burned by Bre Kort.

Shipping: I offer free shipping using USPS Ground Advantage in the United States. I ship internationally and charge a flat rate fee - if you have any trouble at check out with international shipping please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Cleaning Instructions:

To clean the portrait, use a clean dry microfiber cloth to remove any dust. If there’s dust gathered in the exterior bark, a pressurized air can will work to remove without adding any additional fibers. No liquid cleaner/water should ever be used! It can warp the wood even when used in small amounts.
